Daniel L. Root , CEO Sabre Hawk, LLC
Hello, my name is Daniel Root and, as the son of the world renowned expert in human detoxification David E. Root, MD, MPH, I am proud to carry on his work, which he began in 1982.
I am very passionate about helping others overcome their health challenges with our unique and medically innovative program because it cuts to the root cause of most non-communicable diseases: environmental toxicants that create mitochondrial dysfunction.
My passion evolved from extreme anger at the realization that we had permanently destroyed my wife’s health after naively accepting the recommended therapy for hyperthyroidism by her primary care practitioner, radioactive iodine therapy, in 2012. Once we realized that her health wasn’t improving—actually, it got worse—we began to research alternative treatments. It was during this phase that we discovered how we could’ve avoided her terrible outcome simply by changing our unhealthy diet of prepackaged, processed, convenient fast foods to whole, non-GMO organic foods and detox her from environmental toxicants.
The anger I felt stemmed from the knowledge that my father operated the best detoxification program in the world, but it wasn’t accessible to us at that time. You see, he and his team had relocated the detox center to New York City where they were treating First Responders and volunteers suffering the after effects of breathing in and absorbing into their skin the toxic dust clouds from the clean-up efforts at Ground Zero.
From that point forward, I made it my mission to bring this powerful detoxification program to the public in an effort to provide an alternative to the broken sick-care system. Working with my father to advance the program was exciting, as we began to find research that expanded our understanding of niacin’s role in liberating “lipophilic xenobiotics” (fat attracted/soluble heavy metals and man-made chemicals foreign to the body) from fat stores. Following that, we learned about the increased effectiveness in toxin elimination from far infrared saunas over dry/Finnish saunas, and how binders could not only improve the protocol’s effectiveness, but the user’s experience, as well.
Then, after several years applying our advanced program in the realm of Occupational Medicine, I wrote Sauna Detoxification Using Niacin: Following The Recommended Protocol Of Dr. David E. Root, which was first published in 2019 and is now in its second edition. Our book has enjoyed tremendous acclaim worldwide, and it has brought awareness about the deleterious nature of xenobiotic toxicity to the world.
I have given lectures, co-hosted a weekly radio show, The Get Detoxinated! Show on KSAC 105.5 FM, and run the Facebook group, Sauna Detoxification Using Niacin. Mostly, I help others globally through Remote Detox Coaching and educate clients on infrared saunas, acquiring the needed supplies or equipment, and hosting a monthly live meeting called Zoom In with Daniel Root.
In addition to working with clients, I teach others how to deliver our proprietary Detoxination with my Detoxinician™ Certification Training program
On a personal note, my life is greatly enriched by my role as the adoptive father of three biological sisters. This experience has deepened my understanding of family dynamics and community welfare. My six-year tenure on the Board of Sierra Adoption Services further underscored the significance of these values.
Residing in Sacramento, California, with my wife, Suzy, and our youngest daughter, I am committed to advancing the practice of detoxification and supporting the holistic well-being of individuals and families. Thank you for joining us on this journey towards health and rejuvenation. I am very accessible, and I offer a complimentary Zoom consultation.

Col. David E. Root, MD, MPH, USAF (Ret.)
Hello, I’m David Emerson Root, born in March 1936, and I’ve had a diverse and fulfilling career, blending my skills as a USAF Pilot-Physician with my interest in unconventional medical treatments. I’m honored to have been recognized by Queen Elizabeth II for my research in air combat life support and for repurposing L. Ron Hubbard’s Purification Rundown for treating occupational toxic exposure injuries.
My professional journey began with a medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1962. I dedicated 20 years to the United States Air Force, retiring in 1980 as a Colonel, Chief Flight Surgeon, and Senior Pilot. My unique role included being selected for the Pilot-Physician astronaut training program for the Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) and serving as the Chief of Occupational Medicine and Flight Surgeon at Beale AFB with the SR-71 Blackbird squadron.
In 1975, I had the distinct privilege of being the first American assigned to the RAF Institute of Aviation Medicine in England, where I tested defense systems and oxygen requirements during high-G air combat maneuvers. My work earned me the Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service In The Air in 1979, and I am the only American Doctor-Pilot elected a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Post-military retirement, I embarked on a new path in 1982, implementing the medically unorthodox sauna detoxification method developed by L. Ron Hubbard. As the Medical Director of HealthMed and the Senior Medical Advisor of FASE, I’ve applied this method extensively, particularly in detoxifying veterans exposed to Agent Orange and other toxic chemicals.
As the Medical Director of the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project, I had the privilege of overseeing a profoundly impactful initiative from 2002 to 2007. This project was close to my heart, as it directly addressed the health challenges faced by over 4,000 brave individuals who were exposed to harmful toxins during the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
Our mission was clear from the start: to provide effective detoxification treatment to the firefighters, police officers, and other rescue workers who selflessly served at Ground Zero. These heroes were exposed to a myriad of environmental toxins, and it was our duty to offer them a path to recovery and wellness.
Under my leadership, the project operated two dedicated clinics – one at Downtown Medical near the World Trade Center site and another in Williston Park, Long Island. The New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Fund, established in 2002, was instrumental in our efforts. It enabled us to reach out to the community for support, ensuring that we could provide these essential services without financial barriers for the patients. The generosity and support we received were overwhelming and truly heartening.
The success of this project stands as a testament to what can be achieved when compassion, innovation, and science come together to heal and support our heroes.
My work has been recognized and cited in various publications, including Dr. Joseph Mercola’s article emphasizing my experience in detoxifying veterans and Nenah Sylver’s book, The Holistic Handbook of Sauna Therapy, where I discuss the effectiveness of the Hubbard detoxification program. I’ve also been instrumental in legal precedents, such as the 1987 California Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board award, which recognized the health impacts of chemical exposure in the workplace.
Internationally, I’ve consulted with various countries on detoxification methods, particularly in the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster. My research and publications, including 14 papers on aeromedical topics and our sauna-based detoxification program, have contributed significantly to the field.
I’ve also been involved in funded research studies, notably on Gulf War Syndrome and the Utah Meth Cops project, contributing to the understanding and treatment of chemical exposure effects.
Since retiring in 2019, my wife, Mary, and I have settled in San Antonio, Texas. My son, Dan, now carries the baton as the CEO of Sabre Hawk, LLC and our Senior Detoxinician.
In summary, my career has been a blend of military service, medical innovation, and advocacy for unconventional yet effective detoxification methods, impacting both the medical community and those suffering from occupational and environmental toxic exposures.
