FTC Disclosure

FTC Disclaimer for Free Stuff

In order to save us all some time, we will occasionally list products, literature or gadgets that we either use, consume, have reviewed or otherwise enjoy on this site. Because of this, and because the FTC requires bloggers to provide disclosures when there are, possibly, hidden interests or unspoken biases related to any recommendations we make on our sites, when reading through our site, here are a couple of promises:

  • Since, in our view, there’s nothing worse than the scammers, con artists, and scumbags out there pushing things you don’t need, from the latest technology craze, miracle “how to make money online” cure or any other crap, we promise never to do that.
  • We will occasionally review and endorse products on this site.  In some cases, we may have received a free copy of the product to review it.  In some cases, we may decide to become an affiliate of the product. However we do not, and will not, accept payment for any product review, nor do we take part in link exchanges of any kind.
  • We may choose to become an affiliate of products which we believe are truly helpful to our customers (or readers), which means we may receive a commission on purchases you make through any links we provide.
  • Any recommendations we may provide are, first and foremost, based on the merit of the product.  We would make these recommendations either because of our true review of the product, the product’s value and quality, or based on our knowledge of the author’s expertise on the subject and his/her/their reputation.

Some of the consequences of the FTP disclosure requirements are, for instance, that if we interview someone and they grab the bill for lunch, we would need to specify this in the interview. We would also have to specify that we use an Amazon link that gets us 8 cents instead of an Amazon link that gets us no (0) cents. If someone gives us a cool t-shirt with a logo and we wear it in a photo, the same thing applies. We need to put disclaimers all over.

This would be tedious for us, and a continual eye-sore for readers. But the government said we have to, so in the spirit of “rules are rules”, along with our need to cover our collective a**es and preserve your reading experience, please assume that, for every recommendation, link, and product we use, the following all hold true:

FTC Disclaimer for Free Books FTC Disclaimer for Free Food FTC Disclaimer for Free Gadgets
FTC Disclaimer for Money Paid FTC Disclaimer for Free Stuff FTC Disclaimer for Free Stocks & Stuff

While it certainly is not always the case, you should assume that we have an affiliate relationship and/or another material connection to the providers of goods and services mentioned on eighty20results.com.  You should always perform due diligence before buying goods or services from anyone via the Internet or offline.

PS – Please feel free to use the text and images on this page with proper attribution. There is no reason why each blogger should have to reinvent the wheel.
