You're Invited to Participate in a Niacin Study!
You are invited to participate in a study of the effects of chronic up-titration of niacin over 30 days. We hope to learn how the niacin-induced flush is affected by variables such as age, weight, gender, race, food intake, and various niacin forms. This research study is privately conducted, and has no sponsors outside of our organization, Sabre Hawk, LLC.
This is a voluntary program, and you will need to acquire the flushing form of niacin yourself (preferably immediate release, not timed/sustained/slow/extended forms).
The daily activity includes ingesting a niacin dose (TBD) and answering a series of questions about your experiences (see Sample Daily Log, below). The use of niacin during your study participation may produce many side-effects that you may find uncomfortable. Discontinue niacin if you cannot push through these symptoms:
- Skin flushing, redness, tingling, irritation, and itching
- Dizziness, lightheadedness, and sometimes confusion
- Rapid and/or irregular heartbeat
- Nausea, abdominal pain or vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Difficulty breathing, shortness of breath
- Low to severe hypotension (discontinue niacin if severe)
- Sensation of being chilled and/or sweating
Any information obtained in connection with this study that can be identified with you will remain confidential and will be disclosed only with your permission. In any written reports or publications, no one will be identified or identifiable and only aggregate data will be presented.
Once your account is set up, you will be assigned an identification number, which will be used to keep your personal identity private.
Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your future relations with Sabre Hawk, LLC, or its affiliates in any way.
If you decide to participate, you are free to discontinue participation at any time without affecting such relationships.
